Solution

Yes, the 980 ti is better then a fury x, therefore it is much better then a 390x. At 1080p a 980 ti will destroy a fury x. At 4k resolutions the 980 ti and fury x are almost identical. Just because a card has 8gigs of vram and another card has 6 gigs of vram that doesn't mean the 8 gig card is better, it goes about memory clock speeds, amount of memory and type of memory ex. HBM or GDDR5/GDDR3

You can get a 980 for that price, if you want a siginficant performance boost, but for about 60-80 more with tax roughly about 710 you can get a 980 ti. It wonders for me, i'd recommend a g1 unless you have a specific theme for your build any non reference 980 ti would work thats if you can spare the extra cash if not no wait. Fury see about getting a fury card, those are significantly cheaper or at the same price as a 980 at about 550 but really good cards with hbm memoroy. I say go fury. If you can spare extra cash go 980 ti.

If you could just hang on for a bit wouldn't the 980ti be the best card that you could get sure the 980 is a good card and the New Fury is just that New so either the 980 or the 980ti would be the best option if money isn't a problem the ti card is the one you would want.

No their are two different fury cards, one is called the fury x which is an all in one water cooled card, which you can compare to a 980 ti at 4k resolutions, but for some reason at 1080p the fury x does terribly from what iv'e seen in benchmarks. I'd lean towards getting a 980 ti over a fury x though. But a fury vs 980 they're almost identical fps wise. The fury is an air cooled card, which you'd compare to the 980. Not the 980 ti.
