Do you need same ddr ram? Help?

This is my first build I was wondering do you need the cpu (ddr3) to be the same as the gpu (ddr5)
My specs:
Cpu: i5 4690k ddr3
Gpu: msi Gtx 960 4gb ddr5
Motherboard: z97 PC mate

No the System RAM and the Memory on the GPu are differnt, they do not have to match. They setup you posted looks good.

Make sure you have a good power supply. I suggest looking at this list and gettting something at least from the Tier 2. my Favorites are the Seasonic s12G and the Rosewill Capstone.
