Hello people of tom's hardware!

I have an Alienware Aurora R4 desktop and I took out the OEM water cooling contraption due to the known problem of the pump's output side getting gelled up which caused the CPU to overheat and the system fan to always perform at 100% making my room sound like an airport.

This is how it would look like, but my unit wasn't as bad as this one.

Currently I have an i7-3930K, 16GB RAM, and the Radeon HD 7950.

I was looking at the best options that were the best bang for my buck.
I came across the CM Hyper 212 EVO and the CM Seidon 120V which are both around the $30 mark.

Would the Hyper 212 EVO fit my Alienware Aurora R4 that has the ALX Chassis?
And if it does, is there going to be a major difference between this and the Seidon?
Also, how long would it take for the Seidon (an AIO unit) to get to the point where it will damage the computer?

And the last question would be, what are the pros and cons of air coolers and liquid coolers?

As always, thanks in advance,
MohitK

Solution
Would it fit? Check clearance on your case, then look up dimensions of the coolers.
Yes - the Seidon will be better because it is water cooling.
??? - do you mean the one currently in the PC? The Seidon 120 won't damage anything.

Pros of liquid cooling - generally better cooling
Pros of air cooling - no tubes to worry about

You can find more pros and cons online.

Thanks for the quick reply Mattios. What I meant for the third question was, would the Seidon have stuff building up in the hoses and pump and like would there be maintenance and if there was, how often would I have to do it?

Thanks,
MohitK
