Good afternoon everyone. I am hoping someone can help me or at least guide me in the right direction. Its been a while since I have been able to game on a PC but now that life allows it again I am eager to get started once again. I have an old pc that was put together based off a build I had found online sometime ago and I am wondering if this build is still decent enough to play 4-5 games I have been dying to play. Metal Gear solid Phantom Pain (if its still being released in september), The witcher 3, Shadows of mordor and Dragon age inquisition. I have never been a person to play everything on Max setting I just want 60 frames, 1080p. I have about 400-500 bucks set to the side for anything that needs to be done but I am not opposed to saving more if a certain upgrade is necessary. I would like to thank everyone in advance for any replies. The advice is much appreciated. According to speccy here is the specs of my pc

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz 37 °C
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 668MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. SABERTOOTH Z77 (LGA1155) 34 °C
Graphics
2757 (1920x1080@60Hz)
3072MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 / HD 7900 Series (ATI) 49 °C
Storage
238GB M4-CT256M4SSD2 (SSD)
1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 (SATA) 32 °C
Optical Drives
ATAPI iHAS124 D
Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device

The GPU is a 7970 AMD sapphire.

I also use a AOC 27inch monitor.

There is only marginal gain from your current ivy bridge platform to a haswell one, not worth the cost of a cpu, let alone cpu and motherboard.

The newest skylake parts are still way to expensive and not enough of an improvement to warrant the cost at all.

In all reality you are good for one more generation, at that point the upgrade might be worth the cost (and those parts should be much more affordable then).

Hi Black1723! Seems to me you're good to go. My primary system is still running a 3570k with 16 gigs of 1866mhz RAM on an Asus Maximus Formula Five with Win 10. I'm guessing that your memory speed is the same-just a typo. Graphics-wise I've got an EVGA GTX680 with four gigs of VRAM which is comparable to your Sapphire 7970. However, I use a Dell 24 inch monitor at 1980x1080. With my "ancient" hardware I'm getting 60fps with no latency playing Shadows of Mordor, Witcher 3,Skyrim, and Path of Exile. You should be able to handle 2560x1440 on your 27 incher, noting that you wrote of your desire not to max the game settings. Hope this helps. Happy gaming!

Agreed - that rig should be capable of running those. If you were to upgrade, I would install a Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler and replace your GPU with a 390. I would say crossfiring your 7970 would be a good option but it might be difficult to find an identical card unless it's on the grey/third party seller market.

Yes, yes it would. I have a 770 w/ 4GB of video memory that is still getting the job done on high settings for the vast majority of games with good stability and decent frames. That 970 should make for a good gaming experience for quite some time. If you are going through BB, remember that they price match most websites so check amazon, newegg, microcenter & tigerdirect while you're in the store just in case it will save you a little currency.
