I have 2 PCS
i3-2100 8GB
H61MGC motherboard
500w generic PSU
FX8320 8GB
760GA P43
G7 780w PSU
Originally the i3 had a GTX650 in it and the 8320 had a 6870 in it.
I had a lot of problems with the 8320 box so after some swapping of bits it seemed that the 6870 was at fault (memory errors showing up when installed in the i3 box)
the gtx650 was put in the 8320 box as an interim and a second hand hd7790 was ordered
the hd7790 has arrived and does not work in the 8320 box it does not even show a boot screen annoyingly it works great in the i3 box
symptoms of the problem gpu fan runs but nothing out of the screen
the only thing i can think of is that the failing 6870 took out some of the pins on the pcie connector (the 650 uses less pins than the 7790) I can't believe it is power as it won't even run and the 650 does a good job on the furmark.
has anyone heard of a similar fault?
Thanks for your time
Zac
