(My card is the PowerColor R9 280x, can be found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131533)

This card (and others) has a reputation for being loud, making clicking noises, most likely due to vibration. What are you guys' remedies for quieting down the card just a bit? (The rest of my build is silent)

Solution
Both i belive....Dunno...i also bought those cards on sale and it was worth it to sell my 2 280x plus 50euro for 2 of those. i am gaming at 4k tho.
I am also aware about the warranty but i had no more than 2 months. with the coolers i gained better overclock, better cooling and of course i solved my noise problem. I am enjoying every penny on those coolers.

plus i have an asrock z97 extreme9. i use my cfx on slot 1/slot4 so i can use my backplate cooler as well when even artic cooling told me cfx/sli with the extreme iv is impossible lmao.

I have an HIS R9 280X over clocked and it is silent. No fan noise or other sounds. It runs all sorts of games, videos, photo editing and all the general system work we require. I have never heard (rofl) of the what you speak. If your card has vibration sounds send it back. The only moving parts are the fan(s). They should never cause vibration or associated sound. Now if you run them at 100% you will hear them but that is true with any fan solution at 100%. Do you have the card? Does it make noise? Maybe you have other issues?

Still waiting for it to arrive honestly but was just trying to be informed so I would know what to do. Most of the reviews mention the noise

If I can find a cheap cooler for the card right now (around $20 cheaper than normal thanks to Ebay) should I get that or is it smarter to still wait? (I don't know how often the prices fluctuate so)

i am using 2 sapphire r9 290 tri-x oc. And those cards are so noisy as a dj. i use 2 of them and on bf4 online ultra settings they are so loud even david guetta crowd would be jealous.
So my solution for you would be accelero extreme iv(the 280x model) .
I use it on both my cards with custom fans speeds of 50% minimum and are quiter than the tri-x cooler on idle lol!
me and gf feel healthy now with no more headaches haha..

I do not know where you live or where you are buying from. You need to know that any mod. to the card will void the warranty. If you are so concerned about noise why did you buy a card that seems to have a loud rep? Maybe you need to look at a different brand and model? Also are you aware the card you are buying is discontinued? As a 280X owner I will also tell you that this card does no support many of the newer AMD driver enhancements and features.
