Hey there,

So I seemed to be completely plagued by a problem that I've been having for about a week now and I've pretty exhausted every possible thread on this forum relating to my issue.

After a few hours or so my PC seems to crash regardless of the task that I'm doing. The crashing would make the screen go completely black and my PC would become unresponsive forcing me to restart it via the switch. So far I have updated my windows and reinstalled new drivers.

I would also like to note that I had a blue screen a while back concerning a Watchdog Violation error but I just assumed it was my phone causing such(It was plugged into my pc during the time, I might be wrong about this diagnosis so if someone could shed clarity I would appreciate it, I also don't know if these two crashes are related at all)

I have checked the temperatures of all my components at it seems that my temperature is completely normal, secondly I upgraded my PC about 1 month ago and everything seemed perfectly fine until about a week ago.

Lastly I'd like to note that my SSD's cabeling is very taught when connecting to the mobo. I don't know if maybe the cabling disconnects or shifts causing my PC to crash as I have no idea what happens when an SSD disconnects while the PC is on. (My OS isn't installed on my SSD, I have a 1 Terabyte HDD which contains my OS)

PS: The crashes started happening soon after I updated a game called ARK:Survival Evolved.

My specs:

GPU: GTX 980 SC EVGA
CPU: Intel core I7 4770K
Mobo: Fatal1ty Z87 Killer
PSU: 840W Coolermaster
Ram: Corsair Vengence 2x4g
SSD: Galax Gamer SDD 120GB
Windows 8.1 Pro

Thanks in advance for the help, if you need anything else I'll get it to you guys asap :D

I see you also have a gtx 980 like me, i say this because i also am having a black screen issue on some games.
On mine i will be gaming and then the screen goes black but the sound stays on.
From doing searches i am seeing MANY others having similar issues
with the 900 series but on most it is NOT the card.
seems that the drivers are the culprit on some but on others they are not?
My 780ti i originally bought and still have does not have a single issue
so it is making me sorry i ever bought a 900 series.
sorry i cant be of help to your issue but at least you know it started after a game update right?
