Why do I get FPS drops on GTX 960?

I have the EVGA GTX 960 4GB SSC and I've been getting a lot of fps drops while playing Rocket League with max settings with AA turned off.

I've been looking up benchmarks on the same game with the same graphics card that I have and they have everything maxed out and they get constant 58-60 fps while I drop down to 28 fps occasionally.

PS. I've checked that I have the latest driver installed and even on High quality settings (was on Very High) I still get fps drops on Rocket League.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Those temps do not appear to be an issue in accordance with manufacturer's limits... Here's some references from Tom's to show that your 4690K and 960 are well within normal operating limits:

Another option to look at, is port-forwarding if it is available for Rocket League... Port forwarding does not always guarantee to fix ping/lag spikes, as there are variables such are your ISP, modem, connection speed/type, etc. that can affect it. In any event this link provides a guide on how to do port forwarding and also gives a list for specific modems and games to port...

You will need to post your other specs aswell for us to be able to help you.

and did you check the temperature already? perhaps your videocard is running to hot, or CPU, or one of so many possibilities.

No guarantee this will work, but have you looked at your NVidia Control Panel Settings? For example, under "Manage 3D Settings, Program Settings" tab, you can adjust the following individual setting for Rocket League, or any game that is on your system for that matter:

Multi-Display: Single (unless you have multiple)
Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance
V-Sync: Use 3D Application Setting (off)

If you have games loaded on your system that are not present in the Program Settings tab, you can add them also, so you can ensure their profile is also setup correctly.

As it was pointed out, your system specs will dictate accordingly and I as I initially indicated, this may or may not fix your issue but is one area to look into.

Good luck...

CPU: Intel i5 4690K 3.50 GHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 960 4GB SSC
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB

My GPU temp is usually around 50-60 C and my CPU temp is around 45-50 C while gaming. I use RealTemp to monitor my temperatures.
