Changed Routers but lag is still horrible

Hello,

I've recently been having horrible lag when playing LOL- Like 10k - 20k ping, especially at night. My dad bought a new router, and I tested it out today- still the same result, no change in ping at all. What could be causing this lag? Everything in my laptop loads slowly because of lag, its not just PC games...Could this lag be cause of something faulty in my laptop?

If your laptop is the only machine on the network that is experiencing this issue then it is within your laptop and not the overall network. Try running a good antivirus program like Malwarebytes, Vipre, Kaspersky, or another good free one. DO NOT USE NORTON OR MCAFEE. If you hard drive is nearly full then that could drastically slow down your laptop as well. Try to off load as many documents to an external hard drive as possible if you can't just delete them. Then go do a system clean up to get rid a lot of crap within your files and folders. After that, if you have a mechanical hard drive and not an SSD, run a disk defragment on the drive. If you have an SSD do not worry about a defrag as that isn't good for the drive. Once you've done all that report back your results.
