Hey guys how's it going! I've been eye balling this website for ever and was torn between purchasing a pc or building one and it seems building is the way to go so I figured I would give it a shot! I literally know nothing about putting a pc together so any help at all would be great! My budget is $1000 so if any of you guys have some ideas please let me know! I already have a keyboard and mouse from my previous pc that was mediocre, but I've recently been getting bigger on youtube and twitch so I would love the opportunity to upgrade my gear and stream my games flawlessly:) thank you guys so much for the help!

Have a look at this website: https://pcpartpicker.com/

There you can pick the components you want- it will find prices and detect possible compatibility issues. As for actually building your PC, there are plenty of videos, articles and books which could help you.

For gaming and streaming, you will definitely need a great graphics card, which combined with the processor will probably use up a lot of power.

Good luck building your PC ;)

@sfootie Thanks for the quick response! I was actually hoping I could get a break down of what exactly to get because like I said I'm new to building a pc and not sure what parts are good haha. So if you have any insight on that please let me know what parts to get and why :) Thanks again!

edit: So I did some major research and this is the parts I put together. I was hoping I could get some feedback if I would be able to stream and game with this setup! Thanks again guys :)

@mrkbaby Yes that should be a great pc. You should be able to run games at great/ultra settings with multiple monitors, due to the 4GB video card. You might want a second opinion, but that looks good, especially with the Xeon processor. 16gb of RAM should be plenty. If you want to take the price down a bit, you could consider using Windows 7 instead of 8.1, as it will still upgrade to Windows 10. I have never personally built a PC (which is why I would get a second opinion!), but looking at the components that should be great.

Hope this helps :)

@sfootie Thanks for the input! ya I've been reading a ton on computers and that seems the way to go. I was just wondering if maybe it was overkill and I could save some more if I drop the graphics card down a smidge haha. So I made another build and wanted to get your guys opinion on it :)

in this one I put on the sapphire radeon 280, its a significant price difference but looks like its got a ton of good reviews. I also dropped the ssd to 120 as opposed to 250. Any opinions on this?

It looks good on paper but could be better overall. The Xeon isn't very good for gaming standards, you're updated motherboard is a mini ITX which will make your temperatures go up, plus you don't have a CPU cooler. The lower storage SSD is fine cuz 120GB will still be enough to install windows to. The power supply isn't very good and Your second build with the Radeon will make you suffer because it has lower amounts of VRAM which will give you a bigger FPS drop when you stream. Also there's no wireless card and you may be using and Ethernet cable but either way a wireless card is good to have. A better build would be:

The graphics card will be much better because of a great 8GB of VRAM. Only get rid of the wireless card if you're not using wifi. The motherboard is best not downgraded but if you want to get a mini ATX make sure it's a Z97 chipset. The better power supply was necessary as well as the CPU cooler. Drop the price of the motherboard if you want, but other than that you can't cheap out anywhere else.
P.S. I also recommend buying an extra 2 case fans to nicely overlock the Radeon card.

@TheRybobster347 Thanks for the reply! Okay wow, a lot of input I love it haha! Ya it seemed good on paper but I'm glad you were able to give me a heads up on it! The parts you listed seem great but are significantly out of my price range haha. I picked that second build based off another forum I read and everyone was saying the xeon was great! Why would it not work for gaming purposes? Also you were correct I don't need a wifi adapter since my ethernet cord is in my room. If at all possible I'm looking for a build under $1000 so if you have any other suggestions that would be extremely appreciated!:)

p.s. i won't be playing any AAA games. Mainly league of legends, final fantasy14 mmo, and a couple of small time games. So as long as I can get great fps on those we're good :)
