AMD Radeon R9 290 causes black screens/freezes due to lack of power?

I did some reading on the forum and I have the impression these crashes may be caused by the lack of power.
For this reason I made this thread in the hope of being helped.

You should be fine if you are not overclocking.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not overclocking. I wouldn't even know how to.
When I plug my HDMI cable directly in my motherboard bypassing my graphic card I don't get any more crashes, so the problem has something to do with my graphic card.

Wait... Is your original post saying that you currently have an R9 290 and you're getting these issues, or are planning on buying one and concerned about this being a potential issue?
