###Troubleshooting Help:
Hi guys, I've been having trouble with this error, I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it and I was wondering if you could help. Any help would be much appreciated. I had posted this before and followed suggestions given but unfortunately these didn't solve the problem.
The error: Sometimes, seemingly at random, the computer will crash and go into a blue screen displaying a "whea_uncorrectable_error". This happens under high load (gaming) or low load (browsing the internet). I've tried opening up several programs at once and this hasn't triggered an error (which led me to believe the problems wasn't with the RAM). It's happened most often when downloading windows updates, and more recently when gaming (but not always). The screen displaying the error also plays a really annoying sound, something like a low hum.
This is my setup:
This is what I've tried to do:
- I tried re-installing Windows a few times for fear it might be a corrupt file, this didn't reduce the frequency of the problem. Upgraded to Windows 10, this didn't help either.
- I had a look at the minidump files and it suggested files responsible could be hall.dll, or a few others, but when I looked these up in forums people seemed to believe they were unlikely to be causing the error. Also, as I mentioned above I've tried re-installing windows and it hasn't done anything to solve the problem. But I'm new to this so I don't really know what I'm talking about.
- I went into the BIOS and disabled the Turbo Boost (which was set at Auto), this reduced the frequently of the error a lot. It happens a lot less now, but it's still happening.
- I checked the CPU temperature by going into the BIOS straight after the crashes and the CPU temp was around 45-50. Not sure what this means as I'm a newbie in this, but I think it's within the normal range. I also checked the fans, they seem to be working fine, one thing I noticed was that when I turn on the computer the CPU fan lags a little to get started relative to the other fans in the case.
- I've installed all of the newest drivers but this didn't seem to help.
- Ran stress test with IntelBurnTest in Standard and passed. Here are the results: http://i.imgur.com/N13IJge.png?1
- Ran a GSmartControl test on the SSD which came out fine.
- Made sure my BIOS was up to date by installing the most up to date version.
- Posted on reddit's buildapc about this and ended up getting a new motherboard and replacing it, but this didn't stop the problem. It was pretty demoralizing. After I got the new mobo I ran IntelBurnTest which came out fine, but it crashed a few minutes afterwards when browsing the internet.
- EDIT: I forgot to mention I've tested the RAM with Window's memory diagnostic tool as well as with memtestx86. Did three runs with memtestx86 and nothing came up. Also, I added a screen grab of the minidump file: http://imgur.com/wJUNTTl
- Latest thing I've done is to modify my processor power management settings and set the maximum processor state to 80%. This seems to have helped decrease the frequency of the errors, but they are still happening. Usually the don't occur too often, but yesterday I was playing Shadow of Mordor and the computer crashed three times. I can still pass the IntelBurnTest but it seems to me like there might be something wrong with the processor? Any ideas?
Thank you very much for your help! I'm new at this so I don't really know what I'm doing.
Thank you very much!
