Hi guys,

I have a problem with my rig that is driving me mad...here's my rig:

Intel i7-5820K
Asus X99-Pro
16GB DDR4 Ripjaws
SLI Inno3D GTX 980 Ultra
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB
SATA HDD 500 GBCorsair CXM 750W
WINDOWS 10

As my mobo specs says to correctly use and activate SLI I have to use Pci-e slot 1 and 3 (a 16x/8x according to the 28 lane setup). Due to the fact the two video card were pretty massive, I used a pci riser (self powered). So I activated SLI trough Nvidia Windows panel and everything went fine till ten days ago. Suddenly one day I run The Witcher 3 and this is what happened:

Here's a video:

Fps where minimum and the audio was stuttering...after a few checks according to Windows the SLI was working fine, I've also tried to open the case (with the game still on) to see if something was wrong...so I accidentally hit the case with my foot making the video card on slot 3 a little move and believe me or not the system started to works almost fine again (I'm playing 4k native uber settings so the fps is rock solid capped at 30)

This is how it run smooth with SLI working

To be sure I've made a few test, like invert the two cards and making them run as single gpu. Inverting them results in nothing while using them as the only video card of the system runs smooth. I realized that probably the riser was faulty so I've ordered a new one. Indeed in the next days I've got so many problems with the second card in slot 3. First of all bios suddenly doesn't seen any vga installed:

Then starting Windows here's what I had:

So I plugged everything off once more and tested again...single vga slot 1 works fine

Single vga slot 3 runs fine as well, of course bios suggest me to plug it into slot 1

What seems to make the system crazy is the SLI...I was pretty sure it was the riser...so Yesterday I've got the new riser and...nothing has changed!

To be even more sure once for all, I've been able, removing a plastic fancy part of the mainboard, to naturally fit the second video card in slot 3 and so the two cards are both plugged perfectly straight to theyr respective slots:

And guess what? Yes, system doesn't see second card on slot 3 though...the only difference now with both card connected and bridged is that bios recognize only the vga on the first slot...

If i try to plug cards in slot 1 and 4 bios recognize them but due to the 28 lanes it won't enable SLI...but point is that both vga works fine...

So to recap...what do we have for sure:

1) Both VGA works perfectly if alone or on slot 1 and 4
2) As soon as I plug them on slot 1 and 3 bios and Windows don't recognize the VGA on slot 3 (it's cold after several minutes of playing like it get's no power at all..)
3) System were fine till last week...
4) PSU could be a little risky (750W) but again, see point 3...
5) Slot 3 works fine because when i plug a single vga in it bios and Windows recognize it...

So if it's not the raiser, it's not the slot 3, it's not the vga, it's not the PSU...what it could be? And what it could have been happened??

Bios is updated...

If it could help:

Ive this strange issue for the very first day i run my rig...sorry for the noisy airplane background...when I turn on the computer it starts and stop for 2 seconds...then without pressing any power button the computer turn on itself again without problem...

Thank you very much in advance and sorry for the long post!

Nope also because with or without bridge the system doesn't see the second card...it would make sense in case the system see two cards and i cant enable SLI under nvidia control panel...but in this case the problem is that sysytem just see the first card and completely ignore the second...

Yes this could be a solution too but...why a single card on the slot 3 is read while a sli conf doesn't? I mean if the slot 3 is bad then it shouldnt read a single card too right?
