Hello,

I want to know if it's worth upgrading my i5 2500k to any other CPU. I do game a lot which my i5 is handeling great but I want to start editing video's (1080p). Is it worth upgrading my Motherboard + CPU? I live in Holland and parts here are quit expensive.

With editing video's most of the time ill just cut the wrong pieces out and maybe put some little things in it... Nothing really "big".

My setup:
ASRock B75 pro3 M
i5 2500k + Noctua nh-l12 (never OC)
Kston HyperX8GB ram (planning to buy extra 8GB)
Kston SSDnow 90GB
MSI GTX970
Corsair HX650

Solution
i7s come in handy when it comes to rendering stuff like self made videos. Otherwise your i5 2500k still does totally fine in terms of gaming.
but besides the upgrade in editing you wont notice a big difference in gaming.
im still on an i7 2600k @ 4.2 atm and see no reason to upgrade to any CPU out at the moment.
if you still want faster editing and slightly faster gaming or just be a bit more future proof take a look at 4790k/6700k if you got some money to spare

I would just recommend you to overclock it, when the prices for the Skylake components settle down you can purchase that later on.

It won't be worth to upgrade right now especially if it is overpriced in your region.

You should be fine. Unless you want to drop a bundle on buying a new processor, new RAM, motherboard, etc. I'd say unless you have at least US$1,000 (or adjusted for Dutch prices) you can safely stick with what you have, buy the RAM upgrade (make sure you get matching RAM! or consider a RAM kit to replace all the RAM) and you should be fine editing video. Hopefully you have a hard drive somewhere in the spec. 90GB of SSD won't cut it for everything. :)

Over here I can get a new i7 2600k for around €260 is that a good deal or just a waste of money?

I personally wouldnt do it for 260€. If you had like a first gen i5 maaaaybe. But not if you already got an i5 2500k.
I would just OC the 2500k. It has great OCing potential just like the 2600k. You should be able to hit 4Ghz easily on completely safe voltages with that CPU+cooler combination. That should give you the desired boost and safe alot of money. :)
