Memory Instability and Overclocking

Two years ago, I built my PC with an Intel Core i7-4770k and an 2x4GB kit of Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHZ RAM. About four months after that, I decided to buy another 2x4GB kit of the exact same part number. This made my original motherboard, a Gigabyte Z87-D3HP, very unstable and led to poor performance. I soon replaced the motherboard with an MSI Z87-G55. After, I added an EVGA GTX 770 and a second Western Digital Black 1TB hard drive in RAID 0 with the original. I had absolutely no problems with any of these components.

Recently, I decided I wanted to overclock my CPU and GPU. I found many articles that stated that I should test my memory with Memtest86. Upon doing so, I was met with hundreds of errors. I then decided to test each kit of RAM individually. Doing so resulted in no errors in either of the kits. I called Corsair support and I was told that the errors may be caused by the versions of memory being different. I verified that this was true.

The only issue I've ever had (and I'm not even sure if it's an issue) was that the PC became very slow when the memory was fully being used during a Blender Cycles Fluid Simulation. It eventually returned to normal speed and completed the simulation.

This all being said, is it safe to overclock my CPU and GPU with this memory setup? If not, what needs to be done to enable safe overclocking? Thanks in advance!

Yes, what's the actual model # of the DRAM? The errors themselves ion Memtest may have simply been the results of running the test on multiple sticks, Memtest should be run on sticks individually. Also let me know what CPU and we should be able to optimize the DRAM and get rid of lag and the slowdown

I apologize for the late response, but while working on the memory I noticed that my CPU was reaching temperatures of over 90 degrees under light load. As a result of this, I had to order a new cooler. Thank you for the quick response and I will let you know the result as soon as I can begin work on it again.

I tested them individually and they were fine. I'm not getting any BSODs or other problems.
