Considering upgrading motherboard because some onboard components (USB 3.0 slots, ethernet adapter) are failing.
Current specs:
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 - AMD 780G Chipset
AMD FX-8350 8-core processor
8GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Thermaltake 650w PSU
I've been reading forums saying that my mobo is too weak for the processor, and the recommended is a 970 chipset. Other sources believe that I should get a higher wattage PSU. Will replacing the mobo fix the failing onboard components?
Other things to consider:
The parts are about 2 years old.
Tried other fixes for the ports such as updating bios, resetting CMOS, reinstalling drivers, etc. none of which have solved the issue, leading to believe it is a hardware problem.
