Needs help with custom desk

So i'm putting together a desk for myself, but i need help choosing a type of wood, currently my two options are MDF and plywood as ive heard that these are the best for what i plan on doing. Any help..Also if this dosent belong in this category..please feel free to tell me

plywood is the best and looks standard cabinet type . They can be used as thin or thick and i think is great for making a computer case . I am also soon building a plywood computer case

Im using 1/2" Oak ply for my desk I built, two layers of lacquer on top, looks nice and is very solid. (15 square ft)
