So I'm thinking about getting a second monitor for a dual monitor set-up however I don't have very much money (a.k.a. I'm broke at the moment) and was wondering if both screens have to have the same resolution at the same time such as having one set to 1080p and the other 480p. I want to get just a cheap monitor from a thrift store that has a DVI Input seeing as how the monitor would not be my primary monitor for playing games but rather just to have so I can throw my recording/streaming software windows over onto it for easy access whenever I record or stream games. I'm assuming that since my graphics card has 1 DisplayPort, 1 HDMI, 1 DVI-D, and 1 DVI-I and that it says it can support multi-monitoring up to 4 monitors that this would be doable am I correct? I've never done mutli-monitors before so this is very new to me.

My graphics card is a Evga Geforce GTX 760 Superclocked 2GB GDDR5 RAM

Each monitor can be a different resolution if you extend one screen to another. If you duplicate screens they must be the same resolution.
Right now on my MS Surface Pro I'm running the surface at 1440x900 and two monitors at 1920x1080 and 1280x1024.
