Hey,
So I am going to be upgrading to an ssd soon. i will clone my os to it, and use it as a boot drive. So my question is, how should I go about using my hard drive as a storage drive. I have no idea how I would format it after the cloning and how actually store files on it.
Thanks

You can simply install the drive and use it as the D: drive. Or you can change the properties of My Documents, My Pictures, and My everything else to point to a directory on that drive. These documents are typically not stuff that benefits from amazing random access.

Awesome, thanks! I have another question though. After the cloning process would there be any remnant files on the hard drive itself? Is it safe to delete them at that point if there are? Thanks

After the cloning, all files will remain on the hard drive. In theory it's safe to delete them and re-initialize the drive (so that the system won't try to boot from it).

HOWEVER: The wisest thing to do is buy a new drive for your data and put the old one in a drawer, in an anti-static bag. If you every have any problems, you have a bootable backup. Well worth the extra cost for the security.
