I've just built a new PC and had it running fine. When I tried to play a game the computer suddenly turned off. When I try and power it back on the CPU fan starts up for a very short time and then almost immediately the power shuts off. When I take the graphics card out everything still works and the computer turns on as it should. I've tried moving the graphics card to a different PCIe slot and the computer still shuts off. Any ideas on what to do or try would be appreciated.

Update: The graphics card was bad. Got a new one and it works fine

Solution
Sounds to me like a defective card. Can you try another card in the slots? Can you try the card in another PC? If you have no way of testing, the only alternative is to RMA the card and hope that was it.

One thing you may want to check... but it will require removing the motherboard. Check to see that you didn't inadvertently add a stand off where one shouldn't be. It may be shorting out or grounding out the back of the board.
