I had someone help me a day ago with a cpu bottle neck that ended up to be a windows problem. I do see better performance but I also see in some games the gpu usage very low and the cpu usage at the same level. Wondering if over clocking will help
Unfortunately that board has a 4+1 power phase and is not good for overclocking. You can try pushing it a little bit but TBH you are asking for trouble and instability. FX series chips need good voltage to overclock and be stable.
So what could I do? Over clock it a little? I see people who have over clocked t with my same motherboard to 4.5ghz
Yeah i'd try 4 ghz. The board can probably get it to 4.5 but it won't be reliable. It will slowly but surely burn the board out, and thats assuming it is even stable.
I also have a hyper 212 Evo if that will help any with the board burning out instead of the cpu
That helps with CPU temps but the VRM's have no cooling and they are what provides the voltage to the processor to overclock. And theres half as many as you want to have.
Well crap. Any way I can cool it? I just bought a 2k monitor and want to ensure good fps on it. With my gtx 970 I think it is getting bottlenecked in some games.
There is no way to say for sure, there isn't a mhz threshold as to what will work and what won't. Try it and see how it is. You can push the overclock more if you want, but as I said you will risk stability especially as stuff gets more demanding.
An m5a97 r2 (assuming its not the LE model?l
Is not going to struggle in the slightest overclocking a 6300!!
Its solid as a rock
Had a 8320@4.4ghz on it.
Had a 6300@4.6ghz.
Did 4.3ghz on the 6300 at stock vtage with llc set to high.
Knock yourself out mate - 4ghz will be pretty much a certainty on stock vtage ,4.2 will be more likely.
