Hi, hope someone can provide some advice. This is my very first build and I can't get my graphics card to give a video signal to either my monitor or my HDTV...all fans(including the two on the gpu) come on and the power button lights up, but TV and monitor both say "no signal". I have tried all the suggested troubleshooting listed here that I'm able to: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-s... A major problem with this is that I can't be certain its a gpu issue. My motherboard has no video output of its own(so I cant just disconnect the gpu and use onboard video), and no system speaker (so I can't even hear any beeps the mobo may be making). Here are the system specs:

MOBO: ASRock 970M Pro3
CPU: AMD FX 6300 3.5 Ghz 6-core
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 750ti SC acx
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
PSU: Corsair CX750M
Case: Thermaltake Core V21 Black Extreme Micro-ATX

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hmmm, ok what cables are you using to connect to monitor or TV ? DVI-D/ DVI/I HDMI ?

Are you using any adapter for DVI/HDMI ? If so, what connectors ?

Generally an external GPU is detected automatically, but sometimes it may not be the case, so make sure your BIOS is set to the right one(external GPU and not IGPU)

Try to reset the CMOS by taking out the battery for 5 mins, then put it back. You can clean the battery with a cloth, sometime helps, or you can replace it with a new one, again it helps sometime.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip...I have tried resetting the cmos with the jumper on the board, but I will try the battery itself. As for the cables, the gpu has display port, hdmi, and dvi outputs. I've used hdmi for the tv, and the dvi with a vga adapter attached for both the monitor and tv...neither screen has display port so cant use that one. Also, I cannot make any changes to the bios, as I have no video outputs to use except those on the graphics card, and I have no other spare graphics card to try using. I will try the battery and see how that goes.

Ok, what adapters are you using ? DVI-I(25+4) or DVI-D(24+1) ? Most likely DVI-I will work for monitor/s

Did you tried another PCI-E slot to test the GPU ? You can check that too.

If you could, then try a new CMOS battery. And double check all the wirings and stuffs.

If everything fails then you have to test the GPU in another PC, just to make sure its working or dead on arrival. Then comes the part where you have to test the PSU, it could be faulty also, or there may be something wrong with the MB the hardest component to check.

Don't worry all of your components are new and under warranty, if something goes wrong you can claim for replacement. I/we known its a tedious job but that's the way it is!

The adapter is DVI-I. Also, tried both pci-e slots and a new cmos battery and still no signal. Today I even took the GPU back to the store and exchanged it for the same model, just in case the first one I had was DOA, but alas, still nothing, but at least that hopefully helps to narrow the problem down somewhat...less likely now that its the gpu. Going to order myself a little motherboard system speaker now and see if its beeping.

Ended up narrowing it down to being either a problem w/ the motherboard or the ram, and so I sent the mobo back for another of the same model, waited two weeks...new one arrived today and *PRESTO* ...worked right out of the box first time I turned her on. Defective motherboard.
