Hi,

I connect via a VPN to our network, however I am unable to access a certain PC on the network via IP or Host name. I can't even ping it, but the strange thing is I can remote desktop to the PC. No problems accessing the rest of the PCs on the network.

PC is running Win 7 64 bit Pro, I've reinstalled windows, replaced the network card, changed the IP address, disabled the firewall, uninstalled the Anti-Virus. Nothing is working. Out of desperation I've even checked in the BIOS.

I am completely stumped by this. Please help?

Have you tried moving this workstation to a different port/VLAN on the network? Is it possibly behind a firewall or router that filters packets from specific protocols? The other thing that comes to mind is security groups. Is there possibly a policy in play on this computer that causes it to reject certain protocols?

Thank you for your reply,

I have moved the workstation to a different port and there aren't any policies currently set up on the machine. I've done a clean install with absolutely no programs setup and I can access it normally when on the local network, soon as I connect via VPN, it's like it doesn't exist on the network except I can RDP into the machine.

Does your company use security groups? It may be missing a group that allows VPN access, or in conflicting groups. Compare it's security groups with that of a functioning workstation. Also, make sure it's in the correct OU as well. It's the only thing I can think of.
