Fan going crazy

Hello, i have quite a problem with my PC.
When I press the power button, CPU fan goes crazy, and I have no video feed, but after a few restarts, it will boot up. When it gets into Windows, CPU fan sounds like it's revving, and when it does that, the power LED goes off and HDD LED is not blinking anymore, i've cleaned all the dust, reseated everything, changed the thermal paste and I even done a CMOS reset, I can't figure out what's the problem. CPU temp. is about 35 degrees celsius, GPU is about 55.

PC specs:

CPU: Intel core 2 duo e4700 2.6ghz
GPU: Nvidia 9400gt 1gb
RAM: 2gb ddr2 667mhz
HDD: WD 320gb
PSU: ATX 450W
I know it's pretty old, but i hope i can keep it for a little longer :D

Sounds like a generally failing system i'm affriad...
The initial boot problem could be a failing hard drive.
The cpu fan changing speed rapidly could be the motherboard, the fan failing or the cpu reporting the wrong temps.

Could be time to replace the computer to be honest....
You are not wrong about it being old....

As a temporary fix you could trying changing the socket the fan is plugged into or change the fan entirely. But how long this would last is uncertain.

Eh, thank you very much for your answer, at least now I know what's the problem, I will keep it until it will 'die' :)) and then I will buy a new one. :D Thank you again :p
