Logitech G710+

Corsair K70 RGB MX Cherry Brown
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N4OBD32/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

So I did some intense research on both:

Logitech G710+
Pros:
Really elegant pretty keyboard. Good color combination and the white LED fits perfectly. Macros. Use the more intuitive and modern Logitech Gaming Software, which I already have installed, so I won't have to install another application that will run in the background.
Uses 1 USB cable, I think.
Price: 90$.
Cons: All plastic (I think). Longer. Only white lighting (although if I had to pick 1 color it would definitely be white). Less options in the program. Older (2012)

Corsair K70 RGB:
Pros:
Shorter. Newer (2014). More options in the software and lighting effects. RGB. Metallic brushed aluminum plating. rubber-wrist rest.
Cons: No macros. Horribly tedious, intimidating, overly-complicated software that isn't user friendly at all (according to reviews). Uses 2 USB cables if you want LED lighting.
The price: 155$ OUCH!

Features on both: MX Brown Switches. LED. Wrist rests. Media keys.

I am looking for a comfortable, ergonomic, high quality gaming mechanical keyboard.
I will use this keyboard mainly for work and typing actually, but for some gaming too. Also I may move it into my primary Gaming Rig in the future.
Cherry MX BROWN sounds like the perfect "gaming-typing" balance: enough tactile feedback, quiet , light, not pounding the keys like Reds.

On my current 2nd PC (workstation + games) I have a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard. Which is a HUMANGOS, overly-wide, and quite uncomfortable keyboard.
In its credit I must say that it lasted very well until today, the LCD monitor is running strong and very useful, LED lighting all work, so the quality of the G15 is excellent, the design however is not. Too much un-used space, it takes too my space on my desk.

I am also prone from pains in my wrists and joints, thus I want to minimize these as much as possible - main reason for upgrading my KB!

I believe that having a shorter keyboard (reducing the distance between left hand and right mouse hand), a more ergonomic KB , as well as switching to Mechanic switches - would give me a much better typing experience: less pains, less fatigue and easier more pleasant typing.

I am having the hardest time making a decision here!
Please help me out :)

(P.S I will buy a Steelseries QcK+ gaming mousepad along with it)

How does it put the G710 + to shame exactly?
Have you tested or tried any of the keyboards yourself?

Actually I saw a lot of complaints about the Razer mechanical keyboards, especially the facts they are using Kheil (or something) Chinese made switches and their plastic frame material.

I personally refrain from Razer, I was never big on their products.

Yes, I have tried out all three if the keyboard I mention. The g710 feels cheap in terms of construction. It's tend to flex easily in comparison to k70 or blackwidow. I prefer razor switches over cherrymx but I am among the minority.

Strange, I never really experienced a keyboard flexing and I hope I won't!

Thanks for your comments. I am leaning toward the Corsair RGB, even though it costs like a truck full of money.
Is the software really all that bad?
I am reading online reviews, watched Linus Tech Tip and others, as well as reading Amazon reviews and people say it is really that bad.

Also I hope other people here will comment since I am about to make the purchase and I need more opinions.

Yes, I think you are right actually. So which keyboard do you have? and have you tried either of the options I mentioned? Can you give me your personal opinion of them?

I have the non-RGB MX Red version of the K70. I can't comment about the quality since this is the first mech keyboard i tried. Of course its better than the standard membrane keyboard but how it compares to others i can't say since i ddin't get my hands on any other keyboard. All i can say that this keyboard is good if it lasts long. I personally like the volume slider and the compactness. I never wanted extra macro keys so its a plus point for me

Thank you for the quick reply!
I understand what you mean.
Which leads me to another decision which is MX RED or BROWN. But I think I will take the Brown, since like I said, I am going to do a lot of typing, and I think I want to feel and certain tactile feedback with a subtle "click" other than that of RED. I have never tried any mechanical keyboard, but I hear the RED are basically 0 feedback or friction, and that when you push the button it goes all the way down until you floor it (which emits the flooring sound).
I might gotten that one wrong though.

The main reason I go for RGB is:
A. Amazon don't have a non-rgb MX Brown.
B. I figured that if I am going to buy my first mechanical keyboard and pull that kind of money, I might as well invest in the latest and have some flexibility in color aesthetics, in case I would one day move it to another system.
But I am differently not interested in making it a light-show, nor do I plan on spending time reading the 100+ pages manual and hours on the software... so I dunno.

Thank you.
It doesn't say anything about Logitech g710+ but that's ok.
They don't recommend the K70 RGB. Instead they recommend the old "Vengeance" branded K70.

I am about to make the purchase soon, I think I will go with the Corsair Gaming K70 RGB LED - Cherry MX Brown.

If anyone else can share some opinions or personal experiences with Mechanical Keyboards, I will really appreciate it, it would make my decision-making easier.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ransom:

I am walking the road behind you. I too, would like to buy the K70, or these days, perhaps the K95.
This is primarily an MMO gaming keboard for me. SO, the question of software is CRITICAL for me.

Can you advise how you found working with C.U.E.?
(and its MANY updates since August)

Hey Tura, what's up?
I actually ended up with the Corsair K70 RGB Cherry MX Brown.
....Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.
Here is why:
I am using the keyboard on an older machine, that only support USB 2.0.
The keyboard refuses to work properly if the software (and driver) CUE is installed.
What happens is that once the system loads up, the keyboard gets "stuck" - caps, num lock and scroll lock won't work when pressed. Lighting won't run. If you open CUE, it will take a long time to load, then report: NO DEVICE HAS BEEN DETECTED.
Then you can't access anything: polling rate, profiles, lighting, macros - nada.
I tried every possible driver, tried so many things like BIOS update an removing old USB devices from Device Manager etc.
I just can't get my system to detect my keyboard on startup, waking from sleep or signing in.

The only "fix" is unplugging and re-plugging constantly, or changing the polling rate with the hard switch on the KB and switching back, this works sometimes.

I tried posting this on CUE forums, no solution.

When the software does work, I can already tell you its a dated looking, clunky, heavy piece of program. It seems extremelly complicated and tedious to operate. You can download ready profiles (when Corsair Gaming Share website is responding) and import them into CUE.
But like I said, I can't get the software to run and detect my device properly.

As for the KB itself, it is made of high quality materials. It is heavy. Which can be cumbersome when trying to move the KB on your table to adjust its position on the fly. The edges are hard, metal plated with some sharpness to them.
The KB is a bit too small for my long fingers and large palms.
I feel like my two hands are far too close to each other, my fingers curved and my palms often sit in a diagonal position during long typing. In other words, the keyboard isn't as wide as I hoped and the distance/space between keys is very tight.

Personally I am a bit sorry I didn't buy the Logitech G710+.
Its lighter, better looking in my opinion with its orange accents and white led lighting. Far simpler with a software that I already have installed anyway (Logitech Gaming Software). The software itself is modern looking and super easy to operate. I can also say that the recent version of LGS are lighter and doesn't include the annoying bloatware they had before (Apple bonjour).
Sure you don't have RGB, but its hassle free to handle.
I have no idea if its bigger, wider or more comfortable.

I saw that Linus from Linus Tech Tips is using the G710+ Brown for ages now, I guess its just a really good kb.
Also it has a single row of dedicated macro keys, unlike Corsair K70, so you might like that for MMOs.

Ergonomics is a somewhat subjective thing with many factors: your desk, space, the size of your palms, your natural orthopedic condition, how hard you press and how you position your arms, etc.

If only the software would actually work, I wouldn't feel as bad for my K70 purchase... :(

Quick Addition... I just checked back in with staff to learn if they still are Matias fans -- they LOVE me. "Best ever", is what I heard. Strong tactile feedback, no noise.

By the way... NOT cheap, either, though we use them really, ReAlLy, REALLY hard and they last for years.

Does it REALLY put it's build quality to shame though?
