Hello,
I have been looking for ram for a very long time cause I have a DDR2 ram rig and I've recently found some online but I wanted to know if it will work... I asked a few people and they say crucial but when I go to their site its about $500 for like 4gb... I know its outdated just a tad but I don't have the change to upgrade my rig to DDR3 or DDR4 setups so please let me know if this works...

The links above to the "Buy It Now!" auction. If this doesn't work do any of you know where I can get some DDR2 without spending $100 per gigabyte?
Thanks!

why not just get memory from a known dealer like newegg ?? looks a lot less then $500 for it there and a trusted site ?

I assume your planning to mix your old memory with newer maybe not the same brand or model ? for the most part not the best policy

get a factory matched kit in the size and speed you want compatible with your motherboard in its specs at its support page at the manufacture

Ok well if you think that would be better... I got 4gb of ddr2 and I was hoping to update my 4gb to 8gb but if that would probably be the best option as of doing that what do you think about a mobo update? I don't know a lot when it comes to mobo's so do you think i should start a new thread asking for a mobo update so i can have ddr3 or ddr4?

well thing is using you old memory and adding something new can cause issues theres no guarantee they will play nice together or at all and may do more harm then good overall..

you could just invest in a kit that meets you upgrade requirments or if you really don't have issues with what you got just save up for a more up to date build that's ddr3 or 4 ..

also if your running 32 bit windows over 4gb don't get used anyway

being your board is a ddr2 system it maybe better to save up on a fresh build [board - chip - memory ]

that's something you have to decide on your own on what you feel is best

don't hurt to start a thread to ask and see ? that's what toms is here for

way I see it if you were to spend that 500$ just on that e-bay memory - you could get a 150$ board 220$ chip 150$ memory

just a quick example for $498 -

Ok well thankyou for giving me an example of what I could do! I wanted to see one for something I could do! and what I was going to do is buy this new ram and take out my old and just have two slots be used up... that would be ok right?

well if you feel getting 2 fresh sticks at a higher gb then that's fine I just cant recommend mixing your old with new . that's all just get a kit

it can be 4x2 or 2x4 if looking for 8gb [I think 2x4 is a good bet over the 4x2 ]

I got to admit for older ddr2 memory that's some high price's I don't really see how you come out ahead -

https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/memory/#s=200800&Z=8192002

that's just crazy prices -- I think your better off just keeping with what you got save up and do a ddr3 build as like I showed above

anyway good luck on what you decide to do
