Hey, I am completely new to pc building I must admit. However, My friends and I run a small film production company that has been active for a couple of years now and things are starting to move quicker then we thought. We are starting to shoot on RED and we need a pc that will be able to handle this. I want to build something myself to keep costs as low as possible, and it looks like it would be fun to learn. this is the build I have come up with so far. Hopefully it will run reasonably but I want to keep things open for expansion down the road if necessary. turn around times for video edits will be a crucial factor so I do need some power behind my pc. Hoping to keep the budget around $3000. just wondering what I should do differently or if there are any parts I may not know about that would be better suited to the task. thanks! And I will be editing on Premiere Pro.

For 4K video editing you will have more use for faster DDR4-300 memory as well as a Intel 8-core CPU much more than a GTX 980 Ti GPU. Also a higher spec PSU will allow for future addons like a Titan X GPU or additional components.

I was under the impression that using CUDA would make the GPU almost more important than the cpu for 4k in premiere? cool looking build though!

Getting a Titan X would make more of an impact than the 980Ti which was designed for gaming.

The titanx is a fair bit out of my price range. I figure the 980ti would be the next best solution... Might have to look into things a bit more.

You can save money on other components like the M.2 SSD and 6TB HDD. However, You will need the 8-core cpu and the Titan X will be very useful.
