How long will the i7 4790K be able to keep up with today's latest games and future games?

I have an i7 4790K paired with a GTX 980 Ti. How long will the i7 4790K be able to keep up with the latest AAA games?

My system Specs:
Case: Corsair 350d
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Gene
GPU: GTX 980 TI (Reference)
CPU: i7 4790K 4.0 GHz
Liquid Cooling: Cosair Hydro H80i
Ram: 16gb of Cosair Dominator Platinum 2133 MHz
Hard Drive(s): Seagate 2TB
Os: Windows 8.1

I'm quite certain that you'll be fine for 5+ years at least. Skylake is only marginally faster than Devil's Canyon. Most people with an i7 920 which is 6 years old and it's still going strong.

I was playing games up to the beginning of 2014 with an overclocked Q6600. It was struggling the last couple years, but it was still hanging in there.

You also have an unlocked i7 which means you are free to overclock which should stretch it's usefulness out a little longer.
