Hi, i don't know if this is right category so sorry for that. Anyways , i sold my PC with my desk to a friend. It's a good PC and i bought a new graphics card and a good power supply. Everything was running great. After i sold it to him , it started having problems.

A few things happened after experimenting.

We moved the desk and pc to another room and with a good power protector. Nothing changed.

Basically,it happens at random times, watching a youtube video then the screen goes black and says DVI no signal , it happens after a few hours or after a few mins when restarting it. the computer seems to be working normally after the black screen. after checking for viruses and stuff i found nothing. So i opened the case and touched all the cables to be sure that everything is connected . When i did that, the PC booted up to desktop and then restarted by itself but after that the PC was working for about 2 weeks with no problems.

Now it gets weird
, the problem came back few days ago, there was thunder and a power outage also a few days ago ( i had 1-2 power outages when i still had the PC but it worked fine after..).

Today i went to check on the PC , i was at the desktop screen, and i can't really remember but his dog was moving everywhere and wiggling his tail ( possibly touching the pc) and my friend hit the dog or hit the desk or PC or hit the floor and boom the PC restarted itself and appeared to be frozen at the first boot up logo ( Gateway company logo). Also if this helps, the logitech keyboard has a screen on it and when i pressed keys the screen kept flickering . i can't remember if the DVI no signal appeared before restarting.

So we opened it up again , removed some dust ( there wasnt much) again made sure everything was connected properly. After booting up everything seemed normal however this time on the taskbar it showed " installing devices bla bla) and it has a list of like 8 devices being successfully installed but there's only mouse, keyboard and adapter for wireless..

I don't know if it was just a coincidence when he hit the desk/pc/dog.. Also, My friend has a 5 year old son who likes to jump and stuff , maybe somehow it was disconnecting something inside the PC? He also lifts weights in same room and when he puts them down maybe somehow it disconnects something ??

I read online about static problems and problems about some cables inside might be touching somewhere where they shouldn't be, maybe something like that is causing the problems?

Well, because the computer has been moved, it could be some components have been loose. Specially the graphics card on tower computers might easily become little loose, and it could then restart randomly, or restart specially when it's even slightly hit by the dog, kid or whatever. And if the apartment has wooden floor frame, then dropping weights on the floor would also transfer some of the impact energy to a computer on the floor, too.

The devices Windows refers are all kinds of devices, in this case internal. Some graphics cards are, for Windows, actually several devices for example if they have HDMI ports as each is different and each has a sound card device too. Each CPU core or hypertreading virtual core, is a device for Windows...

Some graphics cards are, for Windows, actually several devices for example if they have HDMI ports as each is different and each has a sound card device too. Each CPU core or hypertreading virtual core, is a device for Windows, too. So, probably something was loose because of moving the computer, and not detected by Windows, and hopefully now it works. You should run the computer and push it a bit, and it should not crash.

Most cables and smaller components like memory chips or CPU and smaller addon cards like sound cards and wifi cards ,don't usually deattach, but if the problems continue, you should reasseble everything to make sure nothing else is loose, before trying to guess any other problems.
Only leave the small cables on the motherboard, which connect the different leds, power switch, speaker and front connectors and such, as figuring out their right place is little bit difficult when reassebling, and they can't cause problems like these.
