no reason to consider the 3770k for more money. it is most likely more because it is an older chip that isn't being manufactured any more, so places can get away with jacking up the price.

Don't just go by price, some old chips are listed at their original prices by many vendors.
You can see this happen with old video cards especially in retail stores were old video cards are priced higher than newer faster ones.
