SSD's are a big plus that make the whole system feel a lot faster as programs launch totally faster, and boot times decrease to ridiculously fast times.

However, it will not increase your FPS, or make the games run faster, other than to have the next level load quicker. From a gaming perspective, a mechanical HDD is still a viable option if your budget is tight.

You don't NEED an SSD for gaming, it's more of a premium, with much faster load times. Any game will run just fine on a Hard Drive. SSD's are great as a boot disk and if you save any frequently used items on it, to increase the speed at which they load. But by no means required.

Both guys above said what I would as well. Just a word of advice, don't get the SSHD. We've had more SSHDs come in for hardware issues than any other drive. The solid state portion is the part that has a very high fail rate on a SSHD.
