In this thread i posted you can read how i had a issue with a GTX 980 classified
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2769749/experiencing-tdr.html
In SOME games(far cry 4,COD advanced warfighter, spec ops the line and a few others) i got a black screen with audio after playing for about 3-7 mins and after trying all sorts of drivers, clean installs, etc
i decided for the hell of it to downclock the core by 100mhz which is what my classy's factory OC.(1493 in OC mode)
After downclocking the core to 1393mhz with afterburner the black screen does not happen anymore?
Does anyone know why this is?
should i RMA the card(i hate to give this card up it has a ASIC of 87) or just downclock the card on those games it has issues with?

Solution
because different titles do different thing.

If it work in you unOC it, it either overheating or power issue.

If your temp look good and have a good PSU, RMA it.
A factory overclocked card can only be warranted to perform at the factory delivered level.
The classified is intended to be possibly overclocked more, but there is no guarantee.
I suggest you contact EVGA support to see if anything can be done, or to possibly RMA the card.

Here's the thing why does the card perform flawlessly on many titles?
IF the card was faulty it would do it on ALL games?

Thanks i called EVGA and spoke to a tech and he said IF i want to i can try it in another tower
before sending it back?
He said that way i will be sure it is the card and not something in my existing tower.
I do have a second tower but i have to install a OS in it and hook up the fans which is not too much to do
so i guess i will do that before giving up on the card and sending it back
This particular 980 has a ASIC quality score of 87 which as you know is very good ;)
