Hello,
I am in the market for a tablet after returning the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70. I thought it was a good tablet, but the processor, even though it was a quad-core, didn't meet my expectations. Playback at 1080p was choppy and I couldn't watch it. I didn't like the touchscreen, either. It was a little rough and not as smooth as other tablets I have tried. And Netflix was a but choppy, as well.
The 1080p playback got me to thinking, though. The Lenovo has a resolution of 1920x1200 at 10.1". It has a nice IPS display. Anyway, is there really that much of a difference between 1080 and 720 at that size? I haven't tried it, but I am assuming that even at that resolution, the definition quality probably isn't going to take a bit hit. Is that correct in assuming?
Another question I have is about screen size. I have always looked at 10" tablets when searching. I would move right along when I would see an 8" tablet. Now, I am wondering how much of a difference those 2" would make when watching videos and surfing. Does anyone have any advice when searching, or using, tablets smaller than 10"?
The Lenovo was okay, but I am coming from a Sony Xperia Z2 tablet and I thought it was awesome. I know I cannot expect the same awesomeness from a tablet that is a couple hundred dollars less, but I thought I would try out less expensive devices. All I am going to use the tablet for is media consumption, anyway. Do you all have any suggestions for under $500?
TL;DR:
Is there a big quality difference between 720 and 1080 at 1920x1200 on a 10" display?
How much of a difference in viewing (besides 2" lol) will an 8" tablet be, as opposed to a 10" tablet?
Are there any brands that you all would recommend for around or under $500?
Thank you in advance for any and all help, advice and/or suggestions.
