Does this combo need a sound card?

Hello, I just purchased a Sennheiser G4ME ZERO Headphone and I'm asking if I need a sound card to make it sound better.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyk3njDzr_8
Time: 6:50-9:10

In that video, he said that on board sound is not enough because the headphone has a resistance of 150 ohms and that it wouldn't reach the low sounds.

But, I have the Asus Maximus VI Formula which says this on it's website for the product.
"SupremeFX Formula - Amazing 120dB signal-to-noise ratio with integrated 600ohm-headphone amplifier."

If I still need a sound card, can you please suggest one? Or even so, would buying a sound card be better than using the SupremeFX Formula from the motherboard?

It's hard to take these youtube aficionados seriously considering they get paid to advertise products. He also has another video telling you to buy the Mayflower amp.

The only advice I can offer you is to try the headphones out and if you don't think the headphones are worth the $1XX you paid for them then make a decision. Return them, buy a slightly better pair and save yourself the money on the amp. I'd imagine your motherboard will handle the headphones perfectly if they claim to support up to 600ohms

Well the headphone is actually $329, I'm not sure if you thought I got another headphone so I'm just making sure.
But would anything change if I get a sound card anyways even tho my motherboard can support up to 600 ohms?

EDIT: IF a sound card does out perform my motherboard, do you mind suggesting a few I could buy?

Hi 'MememeIL'
I also have the 'Sennheiser Game4me Zero' headset that I use with my desktop PC. I'm running an ASRock Z77 Extreme-6 MB with integrated audio and use a peripheral switch that selects either the headset or the Creative Labs T-20 2.0 desktop speakers depending on whether I am gaming or surfing.
I also faced the same question that you have when I was building my rig; should I add a discreet audio card or not? It turns out that my MB's on-board (integrated) audio works very well.
Further research revealed that the only advantage of having a discreet audio card in my set-up would have been to enhance the bass which was not needed with the headset or speakers.
Hope this helps.

This headphone correct? Sorry I just copypasta'd it into google and saw that price.

As for the soundcard, its possible that it would get rid of that slight hissing noise you may encounter as you increase the volume output, but personally I don't even use a soundcard and I'm a music producer. Now SHOULD I? Most likely, it's only going to make your sound more crisp. But do I NEED to? I don't think so. It's a budget thing as of now. I don't have the money to drop on a soundcard.

I'm not the most knowledgeable, hell I've never owned a soundcard but I have done some research and I suggest you do a bit of your own. Just google "Do I need a soundcard" or "budget soundcards" and you should be on your way.

Sorry I don't have much reliable advice to give you

Thank you guys so much for helping. The link you just provided is the G4ME ONE. I have the G4ME ZERO. But like I mentioned in the top, the sound card is to help it reach the lows right? The bass.

I've actually decided to try a sound card but not sure if I'll buy one that's worse than my on board sound.
So.. comparing to my motherboard's "SupremeFX Formula", what are some sound cards that would perform better?
And also, for this situation, I have to get a card with an AMP right?

Would this outperform my on board sound?

This is my first time ever with sound cards. It seems to me that my on board with up to 600ohms will outperform the Xonar DG but I'm not sure at all. Does anyone know if they can compare my motherboard audio with any sound card?
