What about integrated graphics solutions? Surely the motherboard needs to be DX12 compatible?

Well,

Actually there is no dependency on the MotherBoard for DX12. Just software (Win 10) and the graphics hardware need to have an architecture that is compatible with the technologies required for DX12. Any motherboard that can support a newer GPU with DX12 support and run Win 10 will be able to run DX12.

The primary determining factor of DX12 support is the GPU and OS. I am not 100% certain which integrated CPU GPU units support DX12. If only the newer chips onboard support DX12, then you would either need a newer MB that supports that chip, OR get a dedicated GPU with an older chip and MB in place of that.
