I know nothing about Overclocking and I have an upgraded Dell XPS 9100. Which means it might be difficult to do with the motherboard. The motherboard is a Dell 05DN3X A00, it's the one the computer came with. With the i7 930 with the stock fan, is it possible for me to overclock it?

Specs:
i7 930 2.8 GHZ
12GB DDR3 RAM Triple Channel
GTX 750 ti
128 GB SSD
1TB W.D. Black HDD
and that motherboard.

Solution
A locked bios will not allow any control over clock speeds such as the required base clock adjustment needed to push the cpu past stock speeds.

This is done because companies like Dell do NOT want users overclocking and damaging a system as a result.
You can check the bios to see if the base clock can be adjusted. Please keep an eye on memory speeds as they may be effected as well.

Unfortunately the stock cooler is not always great, but Dell may use something better(some of the systems they make have pretty good coolers).

Software overclocking may be an option, but I do not have much experience with it so maybe someone else will.

Unfortunately you have a locked BIOS - no overclock is possible, sorry.
