Hello -
I have an AMD 8350 processor, with Arctic Silver thermal paste and EVO 212 Hyper Cooler, all sitting on an MSI 970 motherboard with 8GB of RAM. This is all held in an Antec 900 case. I built this PC maybe 3 weeks ago, and my question is this - today, when I was playing Civilization V and hosting a game for quite a while with my sister and there were a lot of troops moving around, it was rather glitchy and when I turned off my computer the temps were in the high 50s in CoreTemp. The other day, I played Civ V again and also hosted a game for a while, and when I finished I hopped into LoL to play a game, and my computer turned off randomly. When I started LoL, CoreTemp showed that my temps were below 20 degrees, because I waited some time before I started the game. I think that was quite possibly not related at all to Civ V, but perhaps just a power issue because I am plugged into a power strip that is taped onto a closet, it's just a temporary situation. My questions:

Should I be worried seeing the temps coming out of my PC today? I was playing Civ V (hosting with one other PC player and 4 other AI, 16 city states and we were all at war) for at least 2-3 hours before I saw these temps. I've never noticed any other problems with any of my games (League of Legends or The Forest, Terraria) and my PC idles at 17-22 degrees. When I play those games, I've never seen temps even in the 40s...it's usually in the mid 30s, maybe, MAYBE low 40s.

Should I even consider the computer turning off something to be worried about?

Are you sure? I felt the lag for real when I was playing that Civ V. One more question - is there a better processor temp measuring tool than CoreTemp? When I just open Google Chrome or some application, it spikes like crazy and keeps going up and going down, and I don't really trust the temps I'm seeing from that application.
