My parents recently decided they wanted better internet considering there are three intensive gamers/PTP downloaders in our house, and the speeds just weren't cutting it for a family of 6 with multiple devices each as well. So a couple of days ago the Telus guy came and set up our 100Mbps internet and we are all set with a new Wireless Gateway the T2200H, instead of the shitty V1000H. We are getting the advertised speeds with wired and there are no hiccups whatsoever, it's freaking fast. However with the T2200H I was unable to even remotely use Wifi, as their are 15-25 networks that we get interference from on the 2.4 Ghz band as the houses are so close together in our neighbourhood. So because of this I took my Netgear R6200 router which was previously used with the V1000H, and by using the port 1 bridge option (FINALLY TELUS!!) I successfully setup and configured the router and now everyone uses the 5Ghz band and we have no issues, we get reliable speeds anywhere in the house as there is almost no interference, and we get good speeds.
Now to my actual question (I like to give context if you couldn't tell) we have no major issues with the 5Ghz Wifi it is reliable and is fairly fast, but even after changing channels to as far away as possible from any other networks we are getting the speeds we got before on Internet 25, even though we are the same distance away, and even sitting beside the router the highest speed I can get is around 35. I would like to get more out of our Wifi since we should be able to with there being almost no interference. I have some basic networking experience, but for now would like to steer clear from firmware and such that gives more control over the router as last time I tried to install and configure DD-WRT it just would not give me internet access and I had to 30/30/30 reset my router to get functionality back. Any tips or tricks would be helpful.
