Hey there, I hope I'm posting this in the right place but I was looking at getting a refurbished Dell Precision T3400 off of amazon and was looking to upgrade the graphics card to a EVGA GeForce GT 740 Superclocked SS 4GB but looking it over I don't know if I would need to get a new power supply as well and if I do wouldn't know which one I would need. Here is some of the information I have for the stuff as well as what dell says about the power.

If someone could help me that would be much appreciated

Solution
the 570 that comes in the dell is a 40w card
the 740 sc is just over 60w - dont think youll have a problem mate at all - you may need a molex to pci express power connector incase the psu doesnt have one.

Youre wasting money on the 4gb ddr 3 740 though, youd be better with the the 2gb ddr5 one-it performs about 25% better due to the faster vram,or better a gtx 750

Oh ok, thank you. I just wanted to make sure before I made any purchases. I will look into a gtx 750 if you believe that would be better. Thanks again.

if you can find one at a similar pricepoint the gtx 750 is a lot better card than the gt740 & it uses less power & does not require an additional powerconnector mate.

Better all round imo.
