Yo what's up guys.So i'm looking to buy a new processor here and i wanna know if it'll fit in my current motherboard.Since this is a separate computer that i only use for some testing purposes,it's old and specs are low.
So the motherboard's is MS 7529 from micro star international(MSI) and the processor i'm looking at is amd A4 5300.So will it fit or will i have to upgrade my motherboard?

Solution
You could go with the core 2 extreme 6800, but even that would be pretty bad by today's standards. It should run fine for regular stuff though, I've got a second pc with the inferior Pentium e2160, which uses the same socket, and it can do basic things fine.

The MS 7529 is an old motherboard that supported Intel cpu's, in other words you'll need another board.

What you need is a socket FM2/FM2+ motherboard. Check out the motherboard Tier list HERE. Scroll down the page where it says FM2 and FM2+ to check out how certain boards stack up against others. Also if you want to confirm compatibility, you can always check out whatever motherboard model you're currently thinking of buying on the manufacturers website and check the CPU Support List.

Ah...I see.Thanks for the help.
Actually the fact is that i use this 1nd pc for testing purposes. But I recently bought a new laptop so i decided to give this to my little brother for gaming. I needed it for checking whether a webpage was working properly after being uploaded to the server so i didn't need much specs. Now that it's going to be used for gaming, upgrades were essential.
The gpu i installed is amd raedon hd 5450 1gb and it's currently got a pentium 4 3.2GHZ.
So from a gaming point of view, should i stick with the 3.2GHZ single core pentium 4(though i think it's got 2 logical ones right?) or would an intel core 2 duo with 1.8 GHZ clockspeed and 2 cores be better? For gaming purpose that is

That Pentium 4 is EXTREMELY weak, the core 2 duo would be much better, but even that is very weak by today's standards. What kind of gaming will it be used for? My secondary pc has a Pentium e2160 which performs about the same as the core 2 duo you want, and it is pretty laggy. However with that GPU, you MAY be able to run some simple 3D games on medium to low settings. What kind of games did you want to play on it? Any examples?
