How do install CD/DVD Rom drive to new motherboard.

Solution
You have optical drive with IDE connector, we dont use it anymore so for you to be able to connect you optical drive to new motherboard you will have to buy IDE to sata converter, but in my opinion is not worth buying it unless you get one for very cheap on ebay or something. if you cant just buy a new optical drive they cost as low as 10$

in the new mb box should be one or two sata cables for your hard drive and cd rom drive. the sata ports will be colored and numbered. on the mb there may be two six g sata chipset. you have to look at the mb guild. if there just the intel sata chipset then you have two ports that will be 6g and the rest will be 3g. you want to plug your slower cd rom into the 3g ports and leave the 6g ports for hard drive and ssd. sata ports each port is it own channel. so you can plug the cd rom into port 3 or 4 and it wont matter. on the back of the cd rom drive the data and power plug are keyed. you can put the power or data cable on wrong but you can snap it off if to much force is used.
