So at first I was planning on buying a 4590 and r9 390 but I've seen system recommendations for MGSV and Mad Max and the recommended CPU's are all i7's. But the 4790k is 335€ while 4590 is 195€ so is it worth it? The reason why I'm asking this is because I am spending almost 1000€ on a PC and I dont even have a recommended CPU and if I buy i7 I'll have to pay 100+€ more so idk if its worth it.

P.S.- The z97 mobo from asus is 100€ and the h97 from asus is 93€ so idc for the mobo pricing and if you all say that is worth it I am planing to put R9 390 with the 4790k

Hard to say with no benchmarks out on either of them yet really. If it matters, mgsv ground zeroes also recommended an i7 yet in testing even though it scaled on multicore cpu's, hyperthreading made no difference according to dsogaming.

It's pretty common to 'recommend' the best of what's out there just because it's the fastest. "Best" could mean it offers 2fps difference and technically 2fps would in fact be 'better' than not. Realistically it doesn't mean much. If mgsv phantom pain is similar at all, hyperthreading will do very little for it also. If that's the case, an i5 will do just fine. It's also difficult to say since...

It's also difficult to say since people are finding on multiple games that the 'recommended' cpu's are over the top and they're able to play the games very well on cpu's that aren't near as strong as what's listed. Whether that applies to both those games you mentioned or not I don't know for certain.

If you're worried about not having hyperthreading, have you checked into the xeon 1231v3? It will run on an h97 board and usually priced somewhere closer to the 4690k but cheaper than the 4790k. Very rarely have I seen ht make much if any difference in games.

So should I buy xeon and if so can I run it on z97 because it is only 7€ more and if I want I can crossfire so I would like that. And if it doesnt make that much difference I will stick with 4590.

It would depend on the motherboard but h97 usually supports crossfire though more than likely at x8/x4. To get x8/x8 you'd need a z97 board (which is why h97 boards don't support sli, sli won't run at x4 while crossfire will).

Yes the 1231v3 will run on z97 as well as h97. I suggested the xeon only if you're concerned about hyperthreading with those games. Without hard benchmarks I can't say for sure if the ht will make much if any difference. That's the main difference between an i5 and i7, the hyperthreading and the xeon shares that with the i7 since it too has hyperthreading. Besides hyperthreading, the advantage of the i7 4790k is the stock speed out of the box is much faster (the fastest of any intel cpu) at 4ghz base with a turbo clock of 4.4ghz. The 4790 non k is 400mhz slower and the i5 4590 is 700mhz slower.

The xeon is 100mhz faster than the 4590 and has hyperthreading. I think you'd be fine with the i5 but since these games aren't out with actual cpu benchmarks yet, no one can say for sure. If you're really concerned about it, the safest thing to do would be wait a week or two for the games to release and get benchmarked, then you'll know for sure. Both say they should be released sept 1 so I imagine benchmarks will be out shortly after.
