Can I use the VGA port on my motherboard and still be able to use the graphic card?

Hi,

I am thinking of getting this ASUS Mod 1155 P8B75M-Plus motherboard for my graphic card GTX 670.

I have a monitor which only has a DVI-D and a VGA input. The GTX-670 has 2 DVI ports and 2 HDMI ports but not VGA port. The motherboard does have a VGA port.

My question is can I use my VGA cable and connect motherboard VGA to monitor VGA and still be able to use the graphic card to play games etc. Or if I use the motherboard VGA, will I be restricted to using the integerated Intel HD Graphics that come with the Intel core i7-3770s processor.

I can't really test this myself because I have not bought the motherboard yet. So thanks for any input.

Okay. Is it better to buy a DVI to DVI cable or should I buy a VGA-HDMI (or VGA-DVI) adapter? Also, is it safe to buy these cables or adapters on ebay (from China, Hong Kong and such)? Thanks

Well if your dvi port is the same on screen and graphic card, I would go with that since no conversion is required. If the pins are not the same, then I would convert to VGA. Digital signals only have one standard either it works or it doesn't. So you can get converts from anywhere it should work the same.
Yes, you can use Integrated graphics and dedicated you just have to enable it in the bios. If you plug VGA cable to motherbaord, you will be using Integrated graphics not dedicated. If you really need VGA of your gtx 670, you can just get a cheap converter to handle that for you.

Ok thanks. The graphic card has one DVI-I and one DVI-D, so I think I will just get the straight up DVI to DVI cable. Just wondering whether it is a good idea to buy from China seeing that many of the electronics they produce are low quality and fake (no racism or offense intended). But seems like a cable is safe enough is it not?

A simple dvi to dvi cable is all you need. They are cheap.
Here is one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812422626&cm_re=dvi_cable-_-12-422-626-_-Product

You can probably find one at your local walmart .
Delivery from china can take a while.
