Hi,

i got a Maximus VIII Hero, which come with the SupremFX 2015 audio chipset.

I read that this chipset is good, but this is difficult to find sources on this (too new?)

Specifically, i would like to know how this SupremFX 2015 compare with my asus Xonar D2X sound card (bought in 2008 i think)

Some says the supremFX 2015 is worth the quality of a 35$ sound card, other says a 70$ sound card...

i don't think it's better, but i can't find much about it.

Solution
Try it both ways, in the initial build see how you like the onboard, then try adding the Xonar later and see if any better - if so you have it, if not as good can pull the Xonar and uninstall the drivers ;)

It's supposed to be much improved over the Z97 Hero audio which was actually pretty good, my Hero is due in Monday, but am going to be trying to wait for the release of the new Trident Z DRAM before I build so may be a bit before I have mine up and running

Dude, 4Ghz?, i'm going for 3.2, and i'm not sure it's not overkill already.
I read that for this plateform, RAM frequency increase don't scale so good regarding application performance.

Can you argument the opposite?

EDIT : The guy did not tweak the Ring Frequency for this test. After he did, it was a bit better, but not much.

Not sure what you are talking about, the question was on the audio ? If now talking about DRAM, I'll have to see once I get the rig up and running and get some different sets of DRAM to work with. I remember seeing similar reviews on Haswell and even AMD) in the early going that fast DRAM would fall off and would limit your OC, etc which didn't prove true

Yeah, sorry for the off-topic post... In parallel, i was digging into ram oc, and you spoke about Trident, so...

About the audio, i think i will stick with my Xonar for now. This card was a good investment...
