Hello

I currently own a single gtx 970 g1 gaming and its on a 900p screen with dvi-i to vga connection

Im thinking about upgrading to a 1440p or 4k monitor but its possible that i need to wait more gpu generations for the around 500$ cards to play games in thiese resolutions

But the games i play are really not that demanding so it could be possible to play them with some lower settings:
Starcraft 2, heroes of the storm, prototype (1), aliens vs predator 2010
(Im ok with med-highish graphics and 30 fps) so like my xbox 360 plays ;)

Should i upgrade my screen or wait for volta gpus?

Thank you for your help

you can test the performance on 1440p and 4k before you decide, activate DSR on your nvidia control panel , global 3d settings, and start testing , as i have the 970gtx too and 1080p , i tested many games on 1440 and 4k by dsr, i will say go for 1440p its better and good fps even on ultra you can get 40-45 fps on farcry 4 and 50-60fps on shadow of mordor on ULTRA , 4k will be so much and not worth the difference in image quality for money and huge fps loss.

I know far cry 4 shadow of mordor and gta 5 and watchdogs are high req games but guys im not going to play thoes
just:
Starcraft 2, heroes of the storm, prototype (1), aliens vs predator 2010 maybe some team fortress 2 (thoes work fine with dsr except for prototype 1)

those games should be fine with 1440p gtx 970. id say go for it.

you don't know what future will bring , and maybe you want to play a game at some point that is simply won't be playable in 4k with the 970gtx , 1440p is the sweet spot for you, and for my self i will choose high with 1440p over low and medium with 4k with any game

Thank you :) what fps/ settings?
(Prototype 1 lists the gtx 970 as a low power gpu and wont let me past medium settings and 720p so i have to settle there :/)
Other games seems like i can max and get good framerates even at 4k :)

But still i will go 1440p :D bcs its cheap

thats not true at all. where are you seeing that info?

sorry i wasnt being clear. sc2 and avp 2010 should be fine maxed on 4k. i meant the part about protype at 720p, but please disregard this. i didnt realize you were talking about 4k. that is likely correct.

Im talking about 1440 p now :D as that is the resoution i will get but now my native res is 900p but with my i7 6700k 16gb ddr4 quad channel ram and gtx 970 g1 gaming prototype 1 (a game from 2009) wont let me past 720p and medium settings bcs my computer doesnt meet the requirements
That is crazy lol :p

Also in 720p med settings my fps is 60-70 ish (vsynch off)

Then OK there is bad optimization but if the other games let you go past 720p you should get a 1080p monitor with low response time and 144hz or a 1440p monitor 4k is expensive now.
