Hello everyone,

I plan to do an upgrade the heatsink in my girlfriend's computer. The overall pc is an HP Pavilion p6653w she got back in 2010. She does some gaming, mainly WoW, and uses photoshop and over time we switched out the AMD Athlon II x2 3.0GHz dual core for an AMD Athlon II x4 2.8GHz quad core. We just ended up reusing the heatsink/fan that was originally on it and from time to time you'll hear the fan get really loud when gaming. Being that this is an HP case there is only 1 fan on the case that pushes heat out the back. She doesn't want to switch to a better case so its come down to getting a better heatsink.

My question now is after looking up heatsinks it seems that the Cooler Master 212 EVO is apparently the king. I don't know if thats overall or just for heatsinks with a 120mm fan, Either way, i'm gonna say roughly 2nd place among AMD coolers would be probably the Arctic Freezer A30.

The Cooler Master one looks taller but after looking things up they are basically the same height.

so what im asking is:

- which one of those 2 would fit in that HP case which is said to be 6.89'' which im gonna say is actually shorter if your going off the top of the cpu.

- or is there an option someone could suggest that is around the performance and price of those 2 that would fit in the case.

I would like it to be quiet when running but im not looking to brag that its so silent you can't tell the pc is on. im fine with sound id just like to move away from what sounds like the current heatsink/fan is trying to kill itself lol.

I just bought a cooler master HYPER T4 which is VERY similar to the 212, and the T4 is about 5 inches tall, but goes on sideways. It should fit in your case. I have a very small mid tower, and i cant even hear my computer anymore. the T4 and the 212 are very similar, but i heard the 212 is slightly larger. both are very quiet though.
