Questions about sound card

So i have a question about sound cards, lets think that i buy a creative sound card 5.1 or 7.1, and then buy a stereo gaming headset, can i get the surround sound (obviously virtual)? or ill need like a true surround sound headset? thanks

"virtual" surround sound (which is processed by the soundcard and fakes 5.1/7.1 over a single jack) is completely different than "real" surround sound which uses 3 or 4 jacks.

if you want virtual... get one which lists virtual support. this could be dolby headphone, cmss3d, sbx on the label.
