Why does SDHC card capacity show decrease

After copying 2015-05-05-raspbian-wheezy.zip file to my 8 GB SDHC card, the capacity showed 52 MB. I would be most grateful if you would kindly explain, if possible why this happens.

These are further details:

I am using 64-bit HP 15 notebook PC, dual booting with make Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.04. Both of which gave the same results with the SDHC card. My browsers are Internet Explorer 11 for Windows and Firefox 33 for Ubuntu.

SDHC -- Removable Disk: File system NTFS
This SDHC card is an integral ULTIMA PRO make with original capacity 16GB SDHC up to 45 MB/sec
Now it shows Used Space - 2KB ; Free Space - 55.7 MB; Capacity - 55.7MB
Allowed files on drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties.
Windows successfully scanned the drive. No errors found
After reformatting to FAT default, Windows Explorer shows that the contents are:
System Volume Information File folder containing 1Hidden...
