Can't run Witcher 3 at native resolution or in full screen

Greetings,

I've done a lot of reading in the past few hours, but I can't find a fix for this. Installed TW3 earlier and changed from borderless windowed to fullscreen as I adjusted graphics settings. The game failed to refresh and stayed in black screen with the music still playing in the background. I waited 30 s but it didn't revert and I had to reset the PC. I was unable to start the game again (would just black screen when I clicked "Play") until going into the user .ini and changing full screen mode from 2 (full screen) to 1 (borderless windowed). Now the game starts, but the resolution does not fit my screen (native res 1920x1080); going to bordered windowed doesn't help and I have to switch to 1366x768 to be able to see everything. 1920x1080 it's blown up as if severely overscanned and I can't see the sides/top/bottom of the display. I haven't found a setting in Nvidia Control Panel that seems off, and every other game I have works fine. I tried rolling back to the game specific driver for TW3 but it failed; I'm guessing it's because I'm on Win10 now but now sure. I will try earlier Win10 drivers too, and I have reinstalled 355.60 with no success. Thanks for any other suggestions.

Win10 Pro (Version 10.0.10240 Build 10240)
i5 4670k @ 4.2 GHz
EVGA GTX 770 4 GB SC ACX (355.60)
Gigabyte Z87 D3HP
TW3 (1.08, files verified) on WD Caviar Blue 1 TB

Works fine for me on all my windows 10 PCs, you probably need to cleanly install the drivers is all.

If you have graphics or driver issues, one of the most common fixes is a clean uninstall and removal of your graphics drivers.

To uninstall your drivers, first download and run Display Driver Uninstaller, and follow it's recommendations of booting into safe mode and ect.
(This is a direct download link so you don't grab the wrong version)
http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,20.html

You'll download a compressed file called "[Guru3D.com]-DDU.zip"
Right click and choose extract.
Go into the folder and run the DDU v##.##.exe
This will extract more files to this folder.
Run Display Driver Uninstaller.exe...

Update: none of the Win10 drivers work, and the game specific driver for TW3 produces some distorted, uneditable resolution (I assume bc it's not a Win10 driver). I also can't start Space Engineers anymore; it goes into the same black screen as TW3 (can't get out unless I hard reset). Not sure if it's the OS or just all the drivers are bad. Maybe I should revert to Win 7...

Update 2: It seems the "zoom in" is caused by the desktop scaling I use to make apps/icons bigger since I game on a large TV. This scaling apparently affects TW3 and none of my other games. In any case the only remaining problem is I can't play on full screen without the game black screening and forcing a hard reset, as I described earlier. But now at least I can game at native res in borderless windowed mode. Also Space Engineers works again; it apparently didn't like the scaling either. 20 odd games and haven't had a problem until these two.

Choose Yes when it asks you to boot into SafeMode.
After you've rebooted into safe mode.
When DDU comes up, if it hasn't selected your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia/AMD/Intel) then choose it from the drop down list
Press the Clean and Restart option
If a window comes up asking to disable the Windows automatic installation of display drivers click yes.

After (or before removing the old drivers, just put the new ones on the desktop or somewhere handy) rebooting back into Windows, manually download the latest drivers from Nvidia or AMD, don't use auto detect, choose you GPU model and OS from the drop down lists.

Thanks for posting. You're using the 355.60 driver? I've been using DDU exactly as you described to try the different drivers each time (minus that first "update" where I said it failed to install). I'm back on 347.88 right now (found a group of people in the geforce forums swearing up and down that this is the last stable driver nvidia has pushed out), and I haven't changed it since figuring out the scaling issue. I actually just threw my firewall (Comodo, again something that's never given me trouble) into game mode and TW3 booted in full screen mode, so I'm hoping everything is settled now. I may go back to 355.60 but at this point I maybe shouldn't change it if it's not broken.

Cheers, now to enjoy this great game.

Yeah I always used the latest drivers and it always worked for me.
