Computer turns on then off in a split second

I've been having this problem where, ever once and a while my computer would turn off and I would have to unplug the 24 pin cable from the motherboard and plug back in for my computer to work. That's been happening for a while but not a whole lot. Now my computer will only turn on for a split second and won't turn back on unless I unplug the cable again then plug it back in then it only turns on for a second. I built this comuter about 2 years ago. Please help

The most obvious culprit would be the PSU. 2nd most obvious would be the motherboard.

I agree with clutchc based on the info provided. This and the fact that plugging in and unplugged the connector so many times will probably "wear out" the connection itself over time.

Is there anyway to test out to see if it's either one of them without having to go out and buy a newone? Also the light on my graphics card is still on even though my computer won't turn on

We're kind of flailing around in the dark here. It's pretty hard to help trouble shoot a PC when we don't know anything about it. You never listed the components of the system. And the make and model of the PSU.

Check and see if your motherboard is throwing off an Error Code. If there is one, the manual will give you information on what the issue is.
